The Wedding of Canan & Ahmet Orcan

Welcome to a tale spun straight out of a fairytale and step into the magical world of Canan and Ahmet’s wedding day at QT Gold Coast. Bride, Canan, and groom, Ahmet, tell us about their special day, and its giving all the tummy flutters of newly wed love.  

We love love, how did you two meet?  

Canan: Ah, our love story began in 2017 at a festival in Melbourne. My family friend, who happens to be Ahmet’s best friend, invited me to experience my very first festival in Melbourne with him and their group of friends. Little did I know, those four days would forever change our lives. Love truly struck us like lightning, and it was an undeniable connection from the moment our eyes met. 

From festival to fairytale! So, tell us about the proposal.  

Canan: Ahmet’s proposal was nothing short of a fairytale moment. On our one-year anniversary, he surprised me in Brisbane, near the mesmerizing Brisbane River bridge. As I arrived, I found a breathtaking setup with candles, rose petals, cozy cushions, and the grandest gesture of all: huge light-up letters spelling “Marry Me.” It was an overwhelming flood of emotions, and without a doubt, I said “Yes!” with all my heart.

Canan: I have always dreamt of a wedding that exudes class and elegance. I wanted every detail to reflect a timeless beauty, reminiscent of the grand celebrations of Disney princesses.  

From destination to coastal vibes, tell us why you chose QT Gold Coast for your special day.  

Canan: QT has always held a special place in my heart. It has been my go-to destination for memorable nights out, and I have organized various events there, including my 25th birthday and my cousin’s 30th celebration. Choosing QT Gold Coast as our wedding venue was a natural choice, as I knew they would create the perfect setting for our special day. 

And tell us, was it love at first sight in the QT Ballroom?  

Canan: The moment I stepped into The Ballroom at QT; I knew it was where my wedding dreams would come true. The sheer elegance and beauty of the ballroom perfectly matched the vision I had always imagined.  

Intimate family and friends only or a full-blown affair? 

Canan: Initially, we planned for a guest list of around 120. However, in the end our guest list reached nearly 150, filled with cherished friends and family who added even more love and laughter to our celebration. 

Swept of your feet and newlywed, tell us about your honeymoon destination.  

Canan: Due to the challenges posed by the pandemic, our wedding plans were disrupted several times. However, once travel restrictions eased, we decided to elope and have a romantic getaway in 2020. My wonderful husband surprised me with a two-week honeymoon on the picturesque Hamilton Island. Little did we know, our trip would bring an additional blessing. On the last day of our honeymoon, we discovered that we were expecting our precious daughter, making it an unforgettable journey of love and joy. 

Did you have any final thoughts to share? 

Canan: We are completely in awe of the entire wedding experience at QT Gold Coast. From the moment we embarked on this journey, everyone involved was amazing and incredibly helpful. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the dedicated team and the enchanting memories they helped us create.
