Hats off to Hippopotamus

We did it again! Recently, Hippopotamus was awarded 2 Hats as part of the Cuisine Good Food Awards 2021 – 2022, for the second time.

A true honour for the restaurant, hotel and team!

The Cuisine Magazine Good Food Awards curates a selection of the very best restaurants across the country and awards points based on the restaurant’s dining experience, which is then translated into hats.

According to Cuisine, hatted restaurants are at the very top of their game, on par with a premium global dining standard.

We sat down with the man at the help of the Hippopotamus kitchen, Executive Chef Jiwon Do.

Q: Jiwon, what does this accreditation mean to you and your team?

A: This is a great accolade to the work we do here at Hippopotamus and is a tremendous recognition during these tough times.

We’ll keep the bragging in the kitchen, but my goodness we are just so proud!

It was devastating to have to close our doors due to COVID-19 disruptions for so long last year, however those months gave us time to plan bigger and better things for our guests when we re-opened. And to open to Two Hats is just so rewarding!

Q: You have been the creative genius behind our menus and has been crafting delicious delicacies for Hippopotamus for many years now. What’s next for Hippopotamus?

A: We are living in a world that is forever evolving and Hippopotamus will continue to evolve also.

Jiwon and his team pride themselves on using fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local producers, creating pure magic on a plate. When dining at Hippopotamus, you can also indulge in our exclusive wine cellar, pairing up the delicately crafted dishes with some of the best wines from all over the world. It’s simply dining elegance right here in the creative capital!
