We’ve got a lust for life and a yearning to fling ourselves about the world with abandon. This isn’t anything new (my Mum probably thought the same thing in her younger days). The biggest difference in the way we travel as opposed to previous generations is our ability to capture thousands upon thousands of images in order to find one that perfectly steals the essence from that moment in time and turns it into a permanent treasure.
Honouring this ability to snapsnapsnap are the cool cats at Yen Magazine with their new photo awards.
Yen says ‘Yen’s had a long, torrid affair with the click of the camera (each issue has a Guest Photographer, there’s our annual photo issue and a dedicated Photo of the Day section on yenmag.net), so it was high time we launched a comp to see what great travel pics you’ve taken. Free them from the shackles of slide night and share them with the world in the inaugural Yen Geckos Adventures Travel Photo Competition.
There are two prizes up for grabs for judges’ choice and people’s choice. All you have to do is enter your best travel photo, it can be of anything – people, places, markets, that crispy tarantula you ate for a $10 bet… whatever you want, just make sure it’s a damn good shot that captures our attention and the joys of travel.
The competition runs from 30 June – 12 September, 2014 and is open to males and females 18 – 35 that are Australian residents. The winners will be announced on 16 September, 2014 on yenmag.net.
Thanks to our amazing sponsors for supporting and recognising local talent. Three cheers to: Geckos and Fujifilm.’
Sounds like something to get involved in!
