We Like Your Lights

Good lighting is essential, regardless if it’s to sit around in your undies at home or eat at a 3 Chef’s Hats and ten Michelin Star restaurant. There are some of us here in the QT offices that would happily sit underneath fluorescent lighting all day long and think nothing of it. Tsk tsk tsk.

Philippine-based company, Hive, understands good lighting. They also understand good design – just in case you thought that rushing out and buying a dimmer was going to solve all your problems.

Starting back in 2001, Hive began as a group of friends who were inspired to create lighting and accessories that were both aesthetically pleasing as well as practical. Since then, it has become a design and manufacturing facility where various designers can come together and create objects for production under one roof, share ideas and generally be collectively creative together. Nice.

One of the latest collections to be released by Hive is the Kairos collection, designed for Hive by Kenneth Cobonpue. The Kairos collection is a series of fibre-reinforced polymers that employ LED light sources that are embedded into the actual frame.

The result is a hybrid futuristic yet organic light source that to us almost resembles light reflecting off rippled water. Whilst it might not be the most directly formal light for, say, your study or bedroom (ok, maybe it would be AWESOME for the bedroom), it would definitely be a great way to turn your dining and living areas into something a little more appealing to relax in.

For more information, and to buy the Kairos range online, head to the KeZu furniture site.
