Sometimes there is nothing better than kicking back with a musical legend. The terms ‘old school’ get bandied about a lot when people try to describe those true pioneers in music yet there are few to whom the term applies to more than the one and only Bobby Womack.
Bobby will be bringing his first-ever Australian headline, along with a full thirteen-piece band, to the Sydney Opera House this May 24th to sooth and croon your soul with his smooth music.
Starting his career in the sixties with The Valentinos and as guitarist for Sam Cooke, Bobby Womack has written and recorded some of the world’s biggest hits including The Rolling Stones’ ‘It’s All Over Now,’ with his career enjoying so many resurgences thanks to his timeless appeal.
Other classic material from the era includes collaborations with Aretha Franklin, George Benson (‘Breezin’), Janis Joplin (‘Trust Me’), Sly & The Family Stone (‘There’s A Riot Goin’ On’), Ray Charles, Rufus & Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle and Marvin Gaye as well as his own soundtrack to the film ‘Across 110th Street,’ whose title track would be later used as the theme song to Quentin Tarantino’s film ‘Jackie Brown.’
This is definitely a performance not to be missed, so head here to buy your tickets.
