One of our many favourite things to do is sit back, gorge on Maltesers and watch movies. This is an endless source of pleasure for us and mostly in part because the things you eat whilst watching movies don’t count as food so you can eat as much of them as you like. And we intend to eat a lot during the coming Sydney Film Festival.
The Sydney Film Festival is one of the world’s longest-running film festivals, and is a major event on the NSW cultural calendar. The 12-day festival screens feature films, documentaries, short films and animation from around the world in venues across the city including the State Theatre, Event Cinemas George Street, Dendy Opera Quays, the Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace in Cremorne and the Art Gallery of NSW. SFF also takes place at Apple Store Sydney, SFFTV @ Martin Place and Grasshopper Lounge.
One of the key films that will premier at this year’s selection is the long awaited Mystery Road from acclaimed director Ivan Sen. Sen has established himself as a true visionary of Australian narrative and cinematography having cut his metal on previous masterpieces Beneath the Clouds and Dreamland. Sen has also managed to pull together a cast as close to perfect that any director could possibly create, with Aaron Pederson as a local detective. He is joined by Hugo Weaving, Ryan Kwanten, Jack Thompson, Tasma Walton and Damian Walshe-Howling .
