You may have noticed, but we here at the QT have a kinky streak. We tend to think it makes for creative decision making processes and an overall more relaxed approach to life. So when we heard of a chair called Tie Me Up, we were all like “we’re so there!”
Whilst it may not have been exactly what we were expecting, we were still pleasantly surprised with the results. The Tie Me Up (TMU) chair was designed by Italian architect and urban cyclist, Luca Macri. Macri’s work ranges from the conceptual, abstract space to innovative renditions of classic designs and is currently focusing his efforts on teaching at the renowned NABA school in Milan.
Macri’s TMU chair was developed according to systemic principles, and designed to organically include the person using it. This is achieved by having who first needs to us it, put it together through a playful and creative process that is innovative on an absolutely personal level.
Materials such as poplar plywood give TMU its light, streamlined structure, with dark edges burnt by laser, and unfinished surfaces ready to embrace stains, scratches, and any other mark of ongoing transformation. The chair is designed to age with use so the older, and more used it is, the better it looks.
