Sydney Design Festival

2014 sees Sydney Design return for its 18th year making it one of the world’s longest running design festivals. This year’s program brings together an exciting array of contemporary design, change makers, practitioners and exhibitions, drawn from across Sydney’s creative industries. Join us to see how Sydney’s design community are transforming our Design Futures and reflect on how you might help shape this transformation.

Sydney Design is one of the few design festivals in the world produced and managed by a Museum and has grown to become a key event on the design industry’s calendar.

From its modest beginnings in 1997 to an international focus in 2002 with the launch of the first ever retrospective of the work of designer Marc Newson, Sydney Design has always been about promoting a critical understanding of design in the way it impacts everyday life and culture.

Featured participants have included luminaries such as Renny Ramakers, Shigeru Ban, Ron Arad, Richard Seymour, Ross Lovegrove, Paul Simmons, Matali Crasset and Giovanna Castiglioni.

Sydney Design would not be possible without a large team of people across the Powerhouse Museum and without the enthusiasm and passion of the Sydney design community.
