So the name might be reminiscent of those awkward early teen years but the music from Sydney-based band, Sticky Fingers, is totally mature. Totally. And they will be bringing their really adult performance to The Metro for their final Sydney performance on September 24.

The band’s origins began on the streets of Newtown, where bassist Paddy Fingers happened upon a busking Dylan Frost (now vocalist and lead guitar). After a few trades in beers, a shared fondness for weed and some small talk regarding musical ambition, the early days of Sticky Fingers was marked in the annals of history. The band’s unique sound – a hybrid of reggae, pop, a touch of psych and a whiff of bourbon – contribute to this being one of the most original gathering of musicians that have we’ve been graced to hear in a long time.

The band’s debut album, Caress Your Soul, followed in 2013 and was met with praise and acclaims all round. With multiple charting singles and a spot on JJJ Hottest 100, the album went into the top 40 in Australia and stayed in the top 50 for 3 weeks. Three singles went onto high rotation on national Australian radio. ‘Caress Your Soul’ peaked at #17 on the ARIA single charts.

Their latest album, Land of Pleasure, was released on iTunes on August 1 and we’re pretty sure we can die now. A natural maturation from their 2013 release, Land of Pleasure lives up to its titular promise, sliding down your ear canals like a vintage red, the sort that sends State Premier’s careers down the drain. Well played lads.

Sticky Fingers will be performing songs from their latest album at The Metro on September 24. Get there.
