Celebrating its 10^th year as the unofficial Biennale of Sydney fringe, SafARI 2014 kicks off on March 14 across six venues – Alaska Projects, Conductors Project, The Corner Cooperative, The Cross Art Projects, DNA Projects and Wellington St Projects – stretching from the bad lands of Kings Cross to Sydney CBD to Chippendale.

Curated by Liz Nowell and Christine Keys-Statham, SafARI 2014 is comprised of two major exhibitions: in the collaborating gallery spaces the work of 14 emerging artists including Peter Williams and Chris Dolman, Sam Songailo, Laura Moore among others, will be on show, while SaFARI Live is a program of six works by performance artists who will be, in the words of the press blurb, “staging live interventions throughout the exhibition period.” These interventionists include Beth Dillon, Alexandra Clapham and Penelope Benton and OK YEAH COOL GREAT.

While the actual BoS is marred by the controversy over its sponsorship by Transfield, SafARI 2014 offers a guilt-free art experience where punters know their involvement is far from the troubles of real world politics while they’re supporting the work of emerging artists. And you can’t say any fairer than that.
