Brace yourself Sydney-siders for one of the funnest possible ways to get some exercise. The Colour Run is hitting the streets again this year, and will be happening this coming Sunday, February 9 at Sydney Olympic Park.
The event is based on the Hindu festival of Holi – a Spring festival that celebrates the beginning of the new season, spring. Holi festivities mark the beginning of new year to many Hindus, as well as a justification to reset and renew ruptured relationships, end conflicts and accumulated emotional impurities from past.
Holi is considered the festive day to end and rid oneself of past errors, end conflicts by meeting others, a day to forget and forgive; pay or forgive debts, as well as deal anew with those in their lives. So not only are you getting out in to the sunshine but you’re are also doing something for your soul – so maybe take that neighbour you hate or your least favourite relative and get reacquainted.
The day is split in to two events – the morning run and the afternoon run. The morning shift begins at 8am (so get there an hour earlier if possible) and the afternoon jog is at 2pm. The only requirements is to wear all white – that way you can really get coloured in at each of the colour stations on the way!
The 2014 Colour Run will be held at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday February 9.
