It seems to be the year of the comeback when it comes to music your parents listen to! Following hot on the heels of Whispering Jack’s comeback is that other man your mother loved and father would crank up at every barbecue on the weekend – Neil Finn – who will be performing at the Sydney Opera House for three nights this month.
Following five sold-out shows that saw the nation swoon to the anthems of a Finn-Kelly union, the legendary songwriter and Crowded House frontman returns with his classic songbook, full band and new album Dizzy Heights.Â
An OBE-awarded artist, Neil Finn has been making the hips of your parents move for more than thirty years, first with his New Zealand founded band Split Enz before starting his most iconic group, Crowded House. Since leaving the group behind in the mid 90s, Finn has focused on his distinct sound as a solo artist.
Gathering inspiration from the sharp ascent, giddy heights and free-fall thrills of a summer spent in Greece, Finn now follows his critically-acclaimed Opera House concert series in a vertiginous, richly melodic new chapter. Dizzy Heights bridges Finn’s trademark song craft with the technicolour grandeur of orchestrated suites in an assemblage of textures and heady sounds, absorbing woozy strings and soaring vocals to dazzling effect.
Neil Finn will be performing at the Sydney Opera House for three shows starting Tuesday 18 March, with the final show on Saturday 22.
