Bollocks going to the Boxing Day sales (seriously, the shit that goes down at those things is like something out of Apocalypse Now) as soon as we can loosen the familial grip we are rushing straight back in to Sydney’s familiar grime so we can go and see one of the greatest hip-hop groups today, The Roots.
Performing on December 27 at the Hordern Pavilion, The Roots will be bringing the bass back to Sydney’s music scene. Having been around since the late 80s, The Roots have been one of the few hip-hop groups that have not only lasted the ages but have been able to adapt and evolve their sound.
Hot on the heels of their latest album, Wise Up The Ghost a collaboration with the onle and only Elvis Costello, the headline tour coincides with the band’s highly anticipated performance as part of the Falls Festival lineup, as they take a break from their celebrated residency as the house band for talk show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Special guest, Urthboy, will add to the magic of the night so we recommend getting in as quick as possible to get your hands on some decent tickets. Do it.
