Paddington has always been a well-known weekend shopping destination. From the minute stores opened, Oxford Street would be packed with window shoppers, people going to the Paddington markets and stylists running from store to store for their next gig.

But where the real magic happens and where the style-savvy make a beeline to is in the alleyways behind. Like Poepke. Located on William Street, Poepke has been feeding the hunger of Sydney’s clotheshorses for over a decade now.

The owners, Annie Buchanan and Nicola Lie, have devoted their days to making sure the store is stocked with the seasons brightest and bestest from designers such as Bernhard Willhelm, Ann Demeulemeester and Haider Ackermann.

The girls also pride themselves on intelligent service, creating a philosophy about choosing the right clothes for the right person which is a refreshing change from many other larger stores.
