The Whitlams have truly built a career redefining the Australian music scene. Having evolved from a minor pub band in early Nineties Newtown to a headlining act that has collaborated the likes of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, been a Triple J Top 100 staple (even taking out the coveted number 1) and a slew of ARIAS collected almost annually since their first album release in 1993. They have now officially ended their unofficial hiatus since their 2011 album, Australian Idle, to announce a performance at the one and only Taronga Zoo this coming Saturday, February 1st.
As part of the annual Twilight Series, The Whitlams will perform a one of show at the Taronga Zoo concert stage. With back up performances from Voodoo Sons, this will be a truly memorable night, not only for the setting but because this will be the first time the band has come together to play since taking their break.
And that is not to mention the sheer amazingness that is the location of Taronga Zoo. Animals aside, Taronga Zoo has some of the most enviable views across Sydney Harbour and with this a backdrop to one of Australia’s most iconic bands – well, we’re just getting chills thinking about it.
Tickets to the event are VERY limited so we recommend getting in as early as possible as this will sell out quicker than D-grade celebrity’s sex tape. To get your hands on yours, head here.
