NOT AMUSED

Nov 20, 2013  ·  2 min read

No other country knows how to do glam rock like the Brits. Hell, they invented it. And while things have changed slightly since then and terms like ‘symphonic’ and ‘progressive’ are thrown around instead, bands like Muse are continuing that great tradition of combining guitars, glitter and eyeliner.

With the release of their latest album The 2nd Law last year, the boys from Muse announced a world wide tour to coincide with its release and one of their pitstops will be in Sydney where they will play at Allphones Arena on Friday, December 13. Yes, the boys managed to snatch a Friday the 13th performance date. Slow clap, lads, slow clap.

Since their initial introduction to Australia way back when Muse has built up a devoted following down under. The band has achieved Platinum status four times in Australia with their studio albums and their powerful track ‘Knights of Cydonia’, taken from their Mercury Prize nominated album Black Holes and Revelations, took the top spot in 2007’s triple j’s Hottest 100 and reached #18 in the station’s Hottest 100 of All Time poll.

The 2nd Law is an interesting break from the Muse’s previous albums, including a venture in to dub step and a return to those musicians who made the genre what it was such as Queen and David Bowie.
