Listening to Sarah Blasko sing is one of the few things that gives us shivers. In fact, her rendition of Cold Chisel’s Flame Trees is probably one of our favourite covers of all time. In case you didn’t know, we were lucky enough to have her attend our grand opening last year (totes name dropping, we know) and now we’re getting all excited again because this time it’s us attending something of Sarah’s.
Blasko has returned to Australia after spending time in Paris, supporting the release of her album and performing throughout Europe. Accompanied by her long time band, Sarah will be traveling to regional parts of Australia, from Bunbury to Ballarat, for this extensive tour. She will also be stopping by Byron Bay for a special performance at the sold out Splendour in the Grass festival.
For the Sydney leg of her I Am Awake tour, Blasko will be performing for one night only at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in Penrith next Tuesday, July 23. Despite what you may be thinking, Penrith isn’t that far. Think of it as a unique little day trip into the heartland of Australia’s suburban sprawl. You’re also guaranteed to get a decent kebab, hamburger or whatever your deep fried guilty poison is post show because that’s what suburbs are really good for. That and parking. But you can easily catch yourself a train or bus and be back in time to enjoy a cocktail in your room without even breaking a sweat.
The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre is located at 597 High St, Penrith.
