Grab your favourite rug, a picnic basket and your best buddies, the annual Moonlight Cinema has returned for summer, starting December 11 and running until March 29 in 2015.

An institution amongst movie buffs, picnic fans and outdoor types, the Moonlight Cinema has become a must-do fixture in the Sydney summer calendar. Taking place on the grounds at the Belvedere Amphitheatre in Centennial Park, Paddington, you get experience some of the best new films and all-time classics under the Australian night sky. The sounds of native wildlife (hello, friendly bats, kookaburras and possums) add the perfect touch.

This year’s selection of films looks to be going above and beyond, in no part due to the calibre of films that have come out.

While you’re more than welcome to pack your own picnic (including alcohol), food and drinks will be available on the night.

The Moonlight Cinema is on at the Belvedere Amphitheatre, Centennial Park in Paddington from December 11 until March 29, 2015.
