Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Has Begun

If you happen to feel as though you’re suddenly surrounded by hundreds of lithe, beautiful nymphs and studly skater-waifs it’s because the annual Week of Frocks is on. That’s right, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has hit Sydney and will be running from Sunday, April 6 until April 13.

It’s been a rough year for the local fashion industry, with a lot of our favourite stores closing up and many of our iconic local designers moving overseas to test their metal in international waters. But this has in turn opened up the doors for a flurry of new designers to come on board and take their position as the potential New Big Thing. And this is one of the best parts of MBFW – seeing first hand the hard work of all those bright young things and being able to say that you were wearing it before they were big.

This year also has a first for those who thirst for fashion – once only for the industry insiders and ‘celebrité’, MBFW has opened their doors to the general public who can now view the Spring Summer collections for 14/15.

The Spring Summer offerings from Australia’s leading designers will be on show at Carriageworks, Sydney (that’s the official home of Fashion Week, just FYI), April 12­ — 13, 2014. It’s held by the official crew behind Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, so you know when the event promises to deliver the “Fashion Week experience” that’s exactly what you will get.
