We happily admit that we come from the Oliver Twist school of ‘Please,Sir, I want some more’ when it comes to good design. We just want to buy everything. We would have made terrible minimalists and every time we left the house we tend to put one more thing ON instead of taking one thing off.
Ok, with that out of our system we can now admit that we want everything that Joe Chester has ever made and ever will make.
Originally from the Isle of Apples (Tasmania rad-ness right there) before moving to Melbourne, then Finland, Montreal, the rest of the world and then settling in Melbourne again, Joe is the chief craftsman behind design label TreeHorn.
TreeHorn, and therefor Joe, specialises in handcrafted wooden designs for the home and for the body. Bangles, necklaces, kitchen boards and even toys are available to buy from his Richmond studios. Joe has also been known to do commissioned work, both private and commercial, such as a specialised fruit bar and a nautical themed tall boy. He gives the same amount of loving attention to the smallest detail on his works as he does to the embellishing – a quality you can only get by someone who obviously loves what he is doing.
TreeHorn only uses reclaimed, recycled or sustainably grown timber in their works, making sure that each piece has as small an impact on the environment as possible. So you can not only look good in it but feel a little better about yourself for choosing an ethical designer while you’re at it.
For more information, head to the TreeHorn website.
