If you find yourself staying in the warm arms of our ever-loving city this April/May, you’re in luck. The Sydney Comedy Festival has reared its ferocious head for another season.

Starting on April 22^nd and running until the May 11^th, The Sydney Comedy Festival is now in its eighth year after starting in 2005 as the Cracker Sydney Comedy Festival.

The Festival program, curated by Festival Director Jorge Menidis, features performances from the finest Australian acts, the biggest international stars and the most promising emerging talent offering up everything from stand up to sketch, satire, improv, musical, absurdist, theatre, magic and kids comedy.

Some of the headlining talent that you should keep your eyes peeled for (and a bin-liner handy) are Joel Creasey; Danny Bhoy; Mat Wakefield; and our personal favourite Tom Ballard.

This year there is also a strong emphasis on presenting newcomers to the comedy scene.

Through the FRESH program, the Festival offers new Australian talent financial assistance, marketing support and professional advice to allow them to present a successful show, gain valuable experience and grow their audience.

The Sydney Comedy Festival will actually run across the breadth of Sydney’s best venues including the Opera House, The Metro on George Street, The Enmore Theatre, and our very own State Theatre downstairs (we make things so easy for you).
