One of New Zealand’s brightest talents that we have since proudly appropriated, the indie-pop chanteuse Kimbra, is coming back to Australia where she will embark upon a national tour that includes a stop over at the Metro Theatre on Thursday, November 20.
Since her debut single, Settle Down, was released to immediate international acclaim in 2010 the 24-year-old singer has moved from strength to strength. Winner of the ARIA Award for ‘Best Female Artist’ for two years in succession, as well as five Tui awards at the New Zealand Music Awards and two Grammys for her iconic duet with Gotye on the world wide hit, Somebody That I Used To Know. More recently, Kimbra released her highly-anticipated sophomore album, ‘The Golden Echo’, which immediately shot into in the ARIA and RIANZ charts at #5.
‘The Golden Echo’, featuring singles ‘90’s Music’ and ‘Miracle’, was co-produced by Kimbra and Rich Costey and the wonderful kaleidoscope of collaborators include members of the Mars Volta, Muse, Foster the People, and Daniel Johns of Silverchair.
Joining Kimbra on her tour across Australia is Melbourne-based fresh talent, bAnoffee aka Martha Brown.
KImbra will be performing at the Metro Theatre on George Street, Thursday November 20.
