Summer is coming! Summer is coming! We feel a bit like Henny Penny saying that, only just with some better news. But hey – SUMMER IS COMING!
With that in mind, we are already getting into picnic and barbecue mode which means that we need to dig out the old favourite rugs, actually clean the barbecue, and start making some phone calls and setting dates. And we also need these – palette stools designed by colour+light.
colour+light is the trading name of Sydney-based industrial designer, Soumali Chitdamrong. Before making the perfect barbecue slash picnic stool slash side table, Soumali worked as an art director in magazine land as well as dabbling in some web and design and development. The eventual development of the palette stool came from a combination of a love of recycling and protecting the natural world as well as a critical look at our current ‘throw-away’ culture.
Each stool is unique, using recycled woods from those great big shipping palettes that often just get abandoned after their good years have gone. Different colours, grains and details are part of the end result, as will different stages of aging. These are a great way to populate the garden, using them as pot-plant stands or even indoors to for a more rustic version of the coffee table. The uses are endless!
