Jetlag Recovery at SpaQ

Jun 6, 2017  ·  3 min read

words by niall roeder and ben stephens

Overcoming the pain of crisscrossing time zones and hopping over datelines at 30,000 feet can take days to recover from – especially if you’ve made the most of the all-you-can-drink cab savs. In fact for some of us, a full recovery can take up to a week. A week of yawny, puffy-eyed mornings and 3am-staring-at-the-ceiling sessions. Jetlag sucks. Jet lag recovery should be a priority… so here at QT Sydney and SpaQ, we have a post-travel treatment that will have you feeling fresh AF.

We feel your pain. We really feel it.

The Weekend Warrior is a 2.5-hour treatment that sees green tea, sea kelp and magnesium play hero in a spa session that aims to replenish energy and mineral levels, detoxify your system and knock out fatigue. The mineral magnesium acts as a muscle relaxing sleep aid to help the body reset disturbed sleep-wake patterns and improve sleep efficiency, while essential oils (including bergamot) are included to promote feelings of wellbeing, as well as assisting with insomnia.

Massage therapy techniques selected for the treatment are specifically chosen to smooth out the bumps of travelling, boost circulation and calm the nervous system while the facial component is customised with a focus on removing the environmental build-up of impurities accumulated whilst travelling.

Did you get all that? Let us break it down for you…

Potent Green Tea is known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant qualities, while magnesium is responsible for promoting healthy energy levels, sleep, muscle function and overall well‐being. The combined ingredients of green tea, magnesium and sea kelp also promotes detoxification and fights fatigue.

Massage therapy provides great relief from those suffering from soreness, aches and discomfort often associated with long-haul travel. Soothing massage techniques using camellia and sunflower oil both rich in fatty acids help to moisturise, regenerate and condition the skin. In areas of specific tension or discomfort, a thermal red pepper massage oil is used. The red pepper extract provides a warming effect to the area of focus and then the presence of essential oils of wintergreen, pine, tangerine and menthol cool the area of discomfort down providing relief whilst increasing circulation.

In the Weekend Warrior treatment, the facial component is customised as a result of the initial wellness consultation with the guest. Following long-haul travel products that give back essential hydration to the skin are selected.

We recommend that guests make time for the Weekend Warrior treatment within the first 24 hours of arrival at their destination. Ideally, the treatment would be experienced at the end of the day followed by a bath or shower in their room, a healthy feed and a good rest.

We here at QT Sydney can’t wait to help you fight the fatigue.
