Hell yes we love James Blake. In our opinion, this youngster from the grey slopes of London is one of the most talented musicians getting airtime today.
His music has been described as being electronic, part of the dubstep genre, downbeat, and there is even some classical piano pieces thrown in for good measure. It is this eclectic mix combined with a genuine musical ability that has made Blake a pioneer amongst his own peers. His 2010 album, CMYK, was played so often in the QT offices and every decent radio station that we had mastered the art of playing them on the piano app on our iPhones.
Whilst we are super excited that Blake has confirmed a new album to be released in April this year, we are doubly excited that we will be getting the chance to see him live this month!
James Blake will be touring Australia during March and will play in Sydney on the 22nd at Verbrugghen Hall, at Sydney University.
This is a fascinating choice – Verbrugghen Hall is a traditional a world-class concert hall seating 497 over two levels – yes this will be a very intimate affair. Recently restored, the venue features a large stage accommodating a full symphony orchestra, Pogson organ, choir gallery and superb acoustic qualities. The choice of venue – more in line for a performance of a classical orchestra – could suggest the direction for the next album…
Ticket sales for James Blake go on sale on the 11th March. Go buy yours here.
