We did a little wee when heard that one of the greatest figures in rock ‘n’roll was coming to Australia to tour. And not just him, but the band that helped catapult the punk rock scene into the minds and ears of American youth.
Iggy Pop and the Stooges are coming to Sydney to perform at Hordern Pavilion on April 1st. And we totally think it is fitting that this maverick would choose to perform on April Fools Day.
Aside from the fact that Iggy is apparently immortal (we think that his only competition in the test to see who can out-drink, out-indulge, out-rock and out-live him is probably Keith Richards), his vocals are still as good as they were back in his heyday. Considering that he is now 65, it is astonishing to think that he has somehow managed to maintain that drawling baritone after putting his body through more than what most would be able to achieve in three life-times. Mr Pop we salute you!
It has now been a decade since the iconic Stooges have reunited to perform, and this concert is looking to remind everyone why they were so worshipped in the first place. Whilst the tickets might be a little more than your weekly lunch budget, that shit’s going to be worth. Just to hear live renditions of Little China Girl, I Wanna Be Your Dog, and Nighclubbing – you better believe you’re going to love it.
Iggy Pop and the Stooges will perform at the Hordern Pavillion on April 1st. To get your tickets, head here.
