Spring is turning into a fantastic time to be in Sydney and not just because it’s practically swimming weather (but that’s good too). It’s because the annual Sydney International Art Series is once again about to begin, starting November and running until March 2015.
Taking place across two of Sydney’s most respected galleries (the MCA and the AGNSW) the 2014-15 season of the International Art Series will showcase two inspired exhibitions – Pop to popism (1 Nov 2014 – 1 Mar 2015) at the Art Gallery of NSW and Chuck Close: Prints, Process and Collaboration (20 Nov 2014 – 15 Mar2015) at the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Popular, witty, sexy and glamorous, Pop to Popism will fill an entire floor of the AGNSW this summer with works from the giants of the Pop art era – Warhol, Lichtenstein, Koons, Haring, and Hockney.
The MCA exhibition Chuck Close: Prints, Process and Collaboration, is the largest collection of Close’s work ever presented in the southern hemisphere. One of America’s best-loved visual artists, Close is famed for his large scale, photo-based portrait paintings.
The International Art Series will be held at the MCA and AGNSW from November 2014 until March 2015. Some events are ticketed but you can get yourself 20% off by buying an all-access Art Pass.
