I WANT TO RIDE MY BICYCLE

Jul 12, 2013  ·  2 min read

By Benjamen Judd

In tweed, however. We indeed want to ride our bicycles but we want to do it all done up in some serious British tweed realness. And we are going to do it this coming Sunday, July 14.

Bring some much-needed sartorial sass to Sydney streets, the annual Tweed Ride is about to hit the city again. The Tweed Ride is part of a growing global movement that also includes tweed runs (we’re still wrapping our heads around this), and has proven very popular in both England (obvs) and America (totes) and after a brief hiatus during 2012, the popular annual event is ready to peddle again.

This is one of the best ways to experience some of the richness that is Sydney’s inner landscape. Too often even we find ourselves a bit guilty of sticking to the main streets and lanes out of pure laziness and we are kind of glad to have these expeditions back to show us what it is we are missing. The ride will also end in a big old communal picnic so pack some sandwiches, lemonade or ginger beer share some play lunch with your fellow dapper gentlemen and gentleladies.

Registration for the event is mandatory as is the owning and wearing of a suitable helmet so sign up and start up. Sign on starts at 8am and the ride starts at 9am prompt, leaving from Town Hall on George Street. For more info and updates, head to their Facebook page here.
