Hidden in the attic

By Benjamen Judd

Based in Edgecliff, Furniture From the Attic is one of the better-kept secrets of Sydney’s eastern suburbs. We asked a few people who actually lived in the area if they had heard of it or even seen it and it was a resounding no. Which is odd, because they also admitted they walked past the corner where the store lives on a daily basis on their way to either work or down to the local park.

Tucked away on a quiet lane that leads up to Paddington with an unassuming shop window filled with antique treasures, Furniture From the Attic is the baby of an ex-Sydney girl, Maryann. Maryann moved to the country years back where she developed a love for all things pastoral and pre-loved. She now spends her days rummaging through second hand stores, garage sales and wherever else her keen eye takes her looking for that odd piece that could brush up to be a gem.

This is the best place to find an affordable selection of antique wooden dining chairs; a traditional drafting table and even a had-made cubby house. There is a selection available for viewing online but you do have to enquire to get your hands on a quote.

For more information and contact details, head to Maryann’s website here.
