If you can draw yourself away from all the pretty lights that are currently turning our fabulous city into something out of futuristic manga fairyland, then maybe head down to Head On, the preeminent photographic exhibition taking place all over the city until Sunday, June 8.
The Head On Photo Festival is the largest photography festival in Australia and second largest in the world. Held annually, Head On Photo Festival is run by Head On Foundation, a not for profit organisation which provides a multi-faceted platform for nationally and internationally acclaimed artists as well as emerging talent across all genres of photography and the centrepiece of the festival is the Head On Portrait Prize, Australia’s most critically acclaimed photographic portrait prize.
Head On works collaboratively with public institutions, education providers, commercial galleries, professional bodies, businesses and local councils.
Spread across the whole of Sydney, centred in the CBD and extending north, south, east and west, this festival forces you to reconsider the way we experience urban space as an exhibition. Aside from traditional venues such as art galleries and museums, exhibitions and events are also set in less formal venues such as cafes, pubs and Centennial Park. Most events are free of charge and include indoors and outdoors exhibitions, workshops, artists’ talks and open studios. With the diverse range of venues, events and photography, Head On Photo Festival offered something for everyone.
The Head On Photo Festival is taking place now in Sydney and will wrap up on Sunday, June 8.
