H by HEATHER

One of our favourite movies of all time is the 80s classic Heathers starring a young (criminal record free) Winona Ryder and the ever-awesome Shannon Doherty. The clothes, the hair, and the fact they were all called Heather made us want to be part of that crew more than we wanted to own every single My Little Pony. And we are pretty sure that Melbourne-based jewellery designer, Heather Lighton, would have totally been the leader of the pack had she gone to Westerburg High.

Trained in media arts and as a graphic designer, when Heather is not designing some of the most funnest pieces of hand-made and custom accessories for your neck, wrists and fingers, she is working as a photographer for the Thousands websites. The woman is just a non-stop creative energizer bunny.

But it is Heather’s necklaces that we spotted at the Collector Store in Surry Hills that captured our attentions. Crafted from handmade polymer clay beads that are then threaded on silk cord with small painted wooden beads on either side, each necklace is a unique composition so you can bet that you will always be able to get something no-one else will have. All colours used are hand mixed and unique to that creation too. Best part is the pricepoint, which starts at a very humble $45 and works its way up from there.

Being the generous soul that she is, Heather also offers a made to order service direct from her website, which can be found here. Or, pick up her range from Collectore Store on Crown Street, in Surry Hills.

Seriously, how can you not say she would be the best Heather.
