GRIZZLIES FOR THE WIN

Dec 30, 2013  ·  2 min read

By Benjamen Judd

What does one do when the champagne stops and all the noise an lights from a hectic holiday season come to a close and all you want is an evening of winding down with friends? You go see Grizzly Bear at the Sydney Opera House, that’s what you do.

With their rather fresh-faced frontman fresh from a front page cover in our favourite lads magazine, Hello Mr,  Grizzly Bear are returning to our fair shores to bring their brand of happiness and folk to the stages of the Concert Hall at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday, January 5.

Some say that the band is at the peak of their success which, we think, is rather an unfair call considering that once you hit a peak you can only go down. Particularly since their last album, Shields, was way back in 2012. Shields, is considered their most compositionally ambitious venture to date. From the boisterous album-opener, ‘Sleeping Ute’, to the epic finale, ‘Sun in Your Eyes’, this intricate suite of multilayered songs has an inquisitiveness and emotive resonance that stays with you. How can you not expect such talent to only improve and evolve?

Grizzly Bear will be performing at the Sydney Opera House Sunday, January 5. To get your tickets, head here.
