Yes, even we are a little ashamed at the rather crude imagery that headline created especially since its subject – the ever gentlemanly Andy Bull – is as far from crude as you can be. Actually, no. Not really. We don’t have any shame and Bull has a sense of humour. We hope.
But back to the point of all this – our man, Andy Bull has confirmed that he will be touring again this year and this includes a night at out at the Sydney Opera House, next Wednesday January 22.
To celebrate the annual ‘Summer at the House’ festivities, Opera Bar has been transformed into Sydney’s Backyard.
Opera Bar have teamed up with Modular for a series of free gigs throughout January, one being Andy Bull.
2014 is set to be a stellar year for pop-auteur Andy Bull. In 2013, two self-written, self-performed, self-produced singles, Keep On Running and Baby I Am Nobody Now, both attained most-played status on Australia’s National youth broadcaster Triple J.
According to global blog aggregator Hype Machine, Andy has also been amongst the most-blogged-about artists globally. Sold out shows and a US deal with Republic Records (Gotye, Lorde, etc) ensued. Two music videos, directed by Nelson Alves, have also accompanied the singles and masterfully captured the cinematic dream-logic of Bulls songwriting and production. “The feeling of the videos come from dreams where things are familiar but yet not right; vaguely frustrated and uneasy; its not a nightmare, but potentially” says Bull.
Bull will begin his set at the Sydney Opera House at 8pm.
