Australian label, The Horse, has been shodding well dressed men and women for several seasons now. Cobbler and leather worker, Scott Matthews and his wife Amy, ply their trade from their quiet Sydney studio, making sure that your feet are seasonally well saddled. And this year – keep your eyes peeled for a new range of accessories.
Priding themselves on using high quality leather for their creations, The Horse shoe is what you would call a long-term investment. Or, to use words from equestrian trades, pacers not sprinters. The philosophy behind Horse shoes is that, similar to raw denim, the more you wear them the better they become. The leather softens and moulds to the shape of your foot. And, the shoes are treated so that you can go bareback – sockless – and they won’t get that nasty stink your other shoes get.
The Horse’s winter collection, The Wanderers, has just been released and we are in love with them already. In the men’s’ range are beautifully constructed suede derbies, low boots, and woven sandals are on the market in a range of colours, including sky blue, traditional, rich browns, and a chartreuse. For women, there is a reinvention of the traditional riding boot – buckled, a suede slide, and a three quarter ankle. There is a also a nice hybrid derby wedge in patent black that we’re guessing is going to be seen on every foot here in the QT office by the end of the month.
