Fun Things Make Happy Homes

Jun 27, 2012  ·  1 min read

Meet Phil Cuttance. He is a designer from New Zealand.  Phil’s latest project, the Faceture Series, is now finally available in Australia and we are quietly adding everything to our own wish lists here at QT.

Faceture is a collection of handmade lightshades, vases and side tables that are individually created by casting a water-based resin in a hand mould and manually manipulating the shape. The title Faceture was given due to the hundreds of little facets that appear in the finished product which gives the collection a slightly surreal feel. Because each piece is manually finished and moulded by Cuttance himself, you’re also guaranteed to be getting a one-of-a kind.

In order to make the Faceture collection, Cuttance also invented a new machine Called the Faceture Machine, it allows Cuttance to have complete control over the casting and moulding process before he adds the finishing touches. And because he’s practical, he also designed it to be flat-packed. We wouldn’t mind of these either, if we had to be honest…

Watch the machine in action here.

For more information on Phil, check out his website.

The Faceture series can be bought online at The Minimalist.
