Fun fact! Robbie Williams, yes he of the Take That! phenomenon, has released a clothing range. The collection, Farrell, is inspired by and based upon Robbie’s late grandfather the sartorially amazing, Jack Farrell. Now, the collection is in its third season and instead of being just another pop star line we have to admit – it’s not that bad. And it’s now being stocked at David Jones as part of their new international collection for men.
Long before he was Robbie Williams the pop star he was Robert Williams, grandson of Jack ‘the Giant Killer’ Farrell who was a Stoke-on-Trent native with a notable wardrobe who lived a hard life but lived it well. Thirty years after Jack began teaching a four-year-old Robbie what it is to be a man Robbie has honoured his late grandfather and mentor with a fashion label in his name that he says reflect the values of a great man. Farrell, then, is Robbie’s ode to his grandfather’s wit and wisdom and the lessons he taught him as a little whipper-snapper.
“Farrell clothing comes with an in-built authority: there is no branding on the outside of any piece in the collections, no fuss or embellishment. Instead, Farrell’s singular image comes through a shared mindset, an appreciation of quality and clean, tailored lines. It tunes in to the male desire to stand out – but stand out quietly.”
Farrell is available at select David Jones stores now. For more information on the brand, and to see Robbie’s latest campaign, head to the UK website here.
