This is looking to be a year of serious soul music. We were already dead excited to hear that Lauryn Hill, fresh out of the chokey, confirmed for Vivid LIVE but now we have soul mistress that is Erykah Badu will be performing with special guests Hiatus Kaiyote at the Star Event Centre in Pyrmont on Thursday, April 17.

This awesome sideshow is has come about as thanks to Byron Bay’s annual Blues Fest and is a great chance for those fans unable to make it to the festival to see Erykah Badu up close and live.

But that’s not all folks.

Ms Badu will also be showing off her DJ skills while she’s in the country, with the neo soul pioneer announcing the exclusive events earlier this month.

The award-winning singer-songwriter will play two after party sets under her DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown. Sydney’s leg will be taking place at the Goodgod Small Club on the same day, Thursday 17 April, straight after she finishes up at The Star.

In case you hadn’t guessed already, this will be a once in a lifetime chance to see the award-winning performer doing her thing in two very different scenarios – on mic and on deck. It’s the sort of thing that musical wet dreams are made of.

Erykah Badu will be performing at The Star Event Centre on Thursday, April 17 and DJing at Goodgod Small Club straight after that same evening.
