For those who are interested in a little more celluloid with their culture, the Emirates British Film Festival now showing until November 26 at Palace Cinemas in Leichhardt and Paddington might be your thing.
The Emirates British Film Festival brings a selection of the best in contemporary British cinema. With a mix of wildly entertaining comedies, cinematic adaptations, first-time features, and award-winning titles, this year’s program will showcase the best and brightest Brit talent with an exceptional program of 15 brand new films plus the top picks of British “Swinging Sixties” cinema in a specially curated section Six from the 60s.
With a slew of films starring the internet’s current wetdream, Benedict Cumberbatch, including the much anticipated award-grabber The Imitation Game are new films from much heralded British Directors Ken Loach “Jimmy’s Hall” and Mike Leigh “Mr. Turner” featuring Timothy Spall in his Cannes Best Actor award winning role as J.M.W Turner one of the most prolific painters of the 19th century. New voices in British Cinema showcase their immense talent with their directorial debuts Yann Demange (71) , Andrew Hulme (Snow In Paradise) and Stuart Murdoch’s God Help The Girl starring our very own Emily Browning.
The Emirates British Film Festival is now showing at Palace Cinemas Leichhardt and Paddington. For more information, including ticketing and session times, head to their website.
