Fun fact – HAIM is actually pronounced to rhyme with ‘time’. And you’ll be having a damned good one when you attend the L.A based group’s DJ set at the Beach Road Hotel in Bondi this coming Wednesday, July 24th.
As mentioned, originally from L.A, HAIM consists of sisters Este, Alana and Danielle Haim and honourary sister and drummer Dash Hutton. The girls’ early years of growing up in the San Fernando Valley, digesting 70s Americana and 90s pop has left a definite mark on their current aesthetic. Often compared to Fleetwood Mac, their music crosses the borders of folk, r’n’b and electric and has created a whole new Cali sun-and-surf sound.
To pre-empt their September album release, HAIM will be hitting the decks as they tour across Australia and the Beach Road Hotel is the perfect setting. Playing with them are local 6 piece, Alpine, the creators of bold, twinkling, sexy and sophisticated pop music. Fusing synths with honeyed harmonies, hypnotic rhythms and bright beats. These are a perfect backer for HAIM who are truly a family affair that prides themselves on being able to switch from instrument to instrument with complete confidence and ease, and all while singing in three part harmony.
It’s free entry and kicks off at 8 so get in and get early so you can get yourself a decent spot.
The Beach Road Hotel is located at 71 Beach Road, Bondi Beach.
