Courtney Love at the Enmore Theatre

Truly one of if not the most definitively controversial musician, artist, performer and mother of her time, Courtney Love, has announced a national tour this August and she will be coming to Sydney to play at the Enmore Theatre on Sunday, August 24.

Despite being more commonly known as the wife of the late Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love was a game changer for the role of women in rock and roll during the 90s. An industry known for being a rather amorphous boys club, Love turned the tables on their heads by utilising the industries own preconceptions about women against it in both her music and her image.

It’s hard to think that Pretty On The Inside came out twenty years ago. Still relevant today, the album was an instant chart hit and cemented Love, and Hole, as a mainstay within the rock scene. Followed up by the flawless Celebrity Skin, we can safely say that the 90s were shaped by the sounds of Love vibrating out of the speakers of our first car.

This will be the first tour of Australia by Courtney Love since she came out to headline The Big Day Out in 1999. It also coincides with the release of a brand double A-side You Know My Name/Wedding Day (we see a Breaking Bad reference there and, even if it was unintended, we respect it) which has already got critics excited about a potential album.

This is the kind of performance that has all the signs of a huge comeback and frankly we’d rather lose our toes in an awkward sandal-related accident than miss out. We’ll assume you feel the same.
