For all our lovely guests that are wallowing in our warm designer embrace you have chosen a good time to stay. Not only is the weather getting warmer (we promise it is) but the annual David Jones Christmas Windows are now in full swing.
For those who may not have seen them before, David Jones celebrate the Christmas season by producing truly spectacular windows that range from traditional religious themes to the more colourful stories and legends of Christmas. This year, the crew behind the decorations have changed tracks a little and instead of the nativity or even Rudolph’s nose, the theme is the Old Girl herself – the history of David Jones.
Celebrating 175 years of David Jones’ history, the windows show some endearing and key moments such the visit of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II in 1954. In addition, there will be intermittent performances by the David Jones Choir up on the seventh floor of the women’s department. And this is where you will also find the Magic Kingdom – the infamous Santa Mouth Cave that has terrified and fascinated us since we were children ourselves. And no, you’re never too old to sit on Santa’s lap and demand shit. We’re doing it next weekend.
David Jones is located at the corners of Elizabeth and Market Street, just up the road from our dear selves.
