For those with a penchant for the more toe-tappin’ style of music we have good news. The lads of Busby Marou have announced a national tour and are bringing their sweet twanging of the guitar to The Basement in Circular Quay on Saturday, August 23.
Originating in the Far North of Queensland (Rockhampton to be exact), Busby Marou are the combined talents of Tom Busby and Jeremy Marou. One of their earliest successes was in fact on a cover album, He Will Have His Way – Finn Brothers Tribute Album – and were the only unsigned band to play. The album went Gold within a month of release.
Despite being situated in a coastal and rather pretty city (or maybe even because of this and we’re all secretly aware that Australia is nothing if not famous for its whopping big outback) we have a huge soft spot for country music. Busby Marou brings the nostalgic heartache to a whole new meaning, combining traditional themes with modern melodies, riffs and contemporary lyricism. This is a band that is destined for great things and to miss them now would be tantamount to knowing that you once turned down the chance to meet Einstein. Maybe not Einstein. But you get our drift.
Busby Marou will perform at The Basement in Circular Quay on Saturday, August 23.
