There is apparently no end to the creative talents of Gareth Moody. We have previously discussed his particular genius and his label Chronicles of Never. A few years ago, Gareth also released a second range of equally androgynous and equally as draped clothes for men called BlackNoise/WhiteRain.
A sub-label of the Chronicles brand, BlackNoise/WhiteRain shares the same paired-back aesthetic of Chronicles and is possibly even more austere. Garments are incredibly simple – sheer jersey tops, singlets and snug fitting shorts in solid tones create a series of staples that are as soft and familiar as those favourite items you have had for several years.
Edges have, on the large, been left unhemmed giving the range a raw and unfinished look. The jackets for this season are large, box-like and asymmetrical, with a distinct Japanese feel to them. In comparison to the almost infamous and impossibly slim fit of the Chronicles range, BlackNoise/WhiteRain has a distinctive looser fit and feel – comfort playing an obvious part in this season’s design process, from the cut of the clothing to fabric choices.
The current 2012-13 Spring Summer Range is now available. For more information and to buy online, head to the BlackRain/WhiteNoise website.
