In case you haven’t heard, Sydney is about to be hit with its first heatwave for the summer season. Which, if you are familiar with these already, means that even the thought of wearing anything other than your favourite undies in front of the fridge makes you sweat. Which is great if you never had to the leave the house. So what is the answer to this hot and steamy dilemma of finding decent summer gear that doesn’t look like you’ve simply decided to dress up your favourite board-shorts?

The answer would lie with Sydney-based label, Anna and Boy. Launched in 2005 by former fashion editors at Vogue Australia Anna Hewitt and Lill Jenner, Anna and Boy was ‘born from their realisation that fashionable beach babes and boys needed more fashionable beach options’. Since its inception, however, the label’s aesthetic has gone well beyond beachwear, with most garments now easily incorporated in the office or at evening.

Take for example the Parachute dress that was released as part of their summer range. Coming in either black or khaki, this wouldn’t look at all odds on Angelina Jolie at a private soiree. At the Playboy Mansion. Or the Candice dress using the amazing leopard head print that has been a huge hit in the QT offices. In contrast, the Anna and Boy Cruise collection is pure resort wear – brightly coloured, relaxed silhouettes and some nice twists on the traditional floral print.
