One of the best things to hit the Australian hip-hop scene, not to mention the nation’s overall music scene, confirmed a set at the FBi Social, Kings Cross Hotel, this coming Saturday 13 July. We’re talking about the man himself, Citizen Kay.
Originally born in Ghana, then moving to Canberra while still just a young pup, Citizen Kay has grown up with an ambition to make his way into the music scene. Beginning as an aspiring songwriter with a love of hip-hop, he began rapping under the name ‘Kay’.
Not long after teaching himself how to rap, he decided to start teaching himself how to make beats and the art of recording. As time went on, Kay gained more experience making beats, finessing his rapping style and writing and recording his music. His reputation spread and before long he was working with other aspiring artists and musicians around Australia and is surely making his way up the ladder.
If you haven’t already, take a moment and grab a beer and sit down to watch his music video, YES! This baby is also getting some high rotation on the airwaves with critical response to his debut EP, THE YES! nothing short of glorious.
Tickets to the set will sell out fast so we recommend getting in quick. You can get your tickets to Citizen Kay at the FBi Social here.
The Kings Cross Hotel is located at 244-248 William Street, Potts Point.
