A castle to call home.

Rachel Castle has been in the home design industry for nigh on 20 years now and during that time built up her credentials with some considerable connections. Some of these include working in the Conran Shop in the UK – a homewares and furnishings Mecca slash heaven and more recently as a regular contributor to some of Australia’s best lifestyle magazines. Go Rachel!

But it’s her personally designed linens and bedding, Castle, that have snapped up our attention. Especially when we found out that Rachel and her mum, Jillian, lovingly sew all of the handmade artworks themselves! The brand, Rachel says, represents a ‘love of beautiful, often hand-printed or hand-crafted, pieces for the home’. This is obviously a philosophy we here at QT live by so we completely understand where she is coming from.

What we love about Castle is not just the obvious care and passion that has gone into the design, but also the selection of fabrics. Take for example the dual-coloured velvet bedspreads that are completely machine-washable and as soft as baby ducks. Snug as a bug in a rug is not even close to how warm and toasty you will feel in this baby.

Another favourite in the selection are Rachel’s cushions. Once more using velvet as the primary material (why did this ever go out of fashion??), these are a great way to brighten up a room whilst making sure you always have something soft and warm to rest your tired head on at the end of a long day.
