Curated by vibe expert and one-time DJ for Queen Bey at QT Sydney (yep), Andrew Lewis, the Founder of Digital Wax, knows slick sounds and has been setting the scene at QT since the beginning. Andrew first joined QT as founding Group Music Director in 2010, opening QT Gold Coast, and was part of the team who curated the infamous ‘interactive elevator’ experience at QT Melbourne.

A maestro of music, Andrew curates music programming for some of Australia’s best hotels and hospitality venues (including yours truly). Dream gig, right?

We caught up with Andrew to give you the first look (and listen) at what you will hear the next time you visit your favourite QT.

QT Canberra
Jazz aficionados, eat your heart out. On our spring playlist is all the Jazz you could ever need – from Chill Jazz, Jazz classics to Bossa Nova tracks. John Coletrane, Lulu Soares, Gotan Project, Emma-Jean Thackray, Gerardo Frisina and Sonny Rollins Quartet, set the tone for business and pleasure in the nation’s capital.

QT Sydney
Close your eyes and step into Parlour Cucina for a mix of West Coast Jazz tracks from Stan Getz, Art Pepper, and Shelly Manne, before making your way to Gowings for classic Retro Pop vibes from the 60s and beyond – think Dusty Springfield, Ray Charles, and Mayer Hawthorne for good measure.

QT Gold Coast
Setting the scene for an evening lit with lively energy, it’s non-stop energy at QT Gold Coast with an eclectic playlist for lovers of all music. From beachy pop to upbeat vibes, tracks from Kygo, Cheat Codes and Clean Bandit will transport you to the sunshine state, while the raspy sounds of Aussie artist, Tones and I will catch you tapping your foot and singing along to every word. Getting a little spicy, upbeat Latin sounds play homage to Rumba Caliente, our Latin-inspired Friday night session at Stingray Lounge.

QT Queenstown
With one of the best views in Queenstown, we wanted to press play on a soundtrack that complimented the view. Jazzhop and Nu Disco lounge tunes from Canadian producer KAYTRANADA, Crazy P, Smoky Kun and London producer, Ziggy Funk get you closer to the music, while a mix of Jazz, Funk and Soul tunes from The Spinners, Joe Dukie, and Miles Davis set the mood for unforgettable nights in the adventure town. 

QT Perth
For our friends in the west, we’re upping the romance with Jazz Crooners and Jazz Standards from all the legends you know and love… Tony Bennett, Billie Holiday. Need we say any more? For the groovers and movers checking into the extraordinary, Nightmares on Wax, DJ Cam and Mister T set the scene in our lobby, while Roisin Murphy and Bondax give you all the funky upbeat beats you want and need, above it all at Rooftop at QT.  

QT Bondi
As the weather heats up, our beachside haven continues to spin chill and feel good tunes. Infusing soul and beach dub into the spring playlist, we’re turning up the volume on Pachyman, Bill Withers, and The Specials. And from Dennis Lloyd, The Jungle Giants, and Poolside coming out of the speakers, it’s always good vibes in Bondi.  

QT Wellington
A place where art meets soul, we’re tuning in to an international mix of French, Spanish and Italian classics. Channelling the energy of Talking Heads, Curtis Mayfield, and Fatboy Slim, we’re progressing the BPM with every track and taking you on a genre journey. At Hippopotamus, say Bonjour with the French sounds of Pink Martini, Melody Gardot, and Daphné. 

QT Falls Creek
Is there anything better than coming off the mountain after a long day on the slopes and relaxing in the lounge? Sit back and let the eclectic mix of Nu-Disco, Jazz, Indie, Retro-Pop and Classic Funk wash over you, as we turn up the vibes with playful grooves and walking basslines.

QT Melbourne
We’re taking it back in time with old-school 80s classics by Depeche Mode, The Police, and Cyndi Lauper remixed into the sounds of today. At Pascale, 60s Soul and Retro Pop is on the menu, with tracks by Durand Jones, The Delfonics, Etta James, and Liz Vice. The iconic Rooftop at QT emits chill house tracks from Rudimental and Brando, while you to soak in the city skyline. 

QT Auckland
As restrictions ease, there are no boundaries in genres on the playlist for the harbour city. From classic jazz to drum and bass, we’re vibing to an eclectic line-up of tracks from Mac Miller, Nina Simone, Blondie and Lime Cordiale. On the rooftop, let the smooth sounds of Aussie artists, Set Mo, Touch Sensitive and Winston Surfshirt wash over you while you sip pretty with the best city and harbour views.
