You, Plus Two: Fabulous Throuples

Feb 1, 2023  ·  2 min read

QT loves love. This Valentine’s Day, we’re sprinkling rose petals on love that comes in three. They say two’s company, and at QT, throuples are a vibe. Unconventional? Perhaps. Extraordinary? Absolutely. It’s love that’s magnified.

More than a dynamic duo but not exactly a fabulous foursome, three is the magic number. Whether a dedicated power throuple, third-wheel, or trying on a trio for size, terrific triumvirates manifest in many forms. Read on for our round-up of fabulous you-plus-two’s.

The third wheel

Superfluous? We say nay. Third wheels have a bad rap as being the unwanted extra encroaching on date night. Perhaps the most famous historical trio, Cleopatra, Julius Caesar and Mark Antony’s was a tragedy of star-crossed lovers. But hear us out. Their love triangle breaks down the not-so-necessary notion of a third wheel: each lover has their place in the strategic alliance. All is’s fair in love and war. Other notable thirds include the Donkey to Shrek and Fiona’s courtship and, later, Harry to Hermione and Ron.

Triplets: It’s all family

Bringing a whole new meaning to ‘keeping it in the family’, there’s something to be said for the power of three siblings. Take the disco-bopping, falsetto-trilling Bee Gees, the three Gibb brothers (and Gold Coast cultural exports) who brought us Saturday Night Fever. Or Destiny’s Child. While not technically related, these ‘sisters’ prove that, while you can’t choose family, some friendships are thicker than blood. Another textbook example? The Three Bears. When a fourth – Goldilocks – is added, chaos ensues. Plain and simple: three is just right. Keep it to three and keep it in the family. Bonus points if you’re the third wheel to your parents’ ‘me and you’. All love is welcome here.

Three peas in a pod

Filed under: Friendship Threes Doing Good are the crime-fighting colleagues and friends, Charlie’s Angels. Elsewhere, the Three Little Pigs prove the power of three to outwit bad – all the huffing and puffing in the world couldn’t break apart their bond. Three cheers for platonic threes.

For the perfectly platonic to downright romantic, trios of all kinds deserve a little extra affection and QT is playing throuple maker. This V-Day at QT, everything’s set for three. Book now.
