Your Truffle Festival itinerary

Jun 24, 2018  ·  3 min read

An acquired taste to some, an absolute treat to others, the truffle is the humble delicacy that will be taking over Canberra once again this Winter.

From June to August you can enjoy a feast of the senses, celebrating the best of Canberra’s local produce and most importantly – the truffle. The festival will roll out across a number of local restaurants, cafés, bars and wineries across the capital. We’ve put together out go-to’s to get the most out of the Truffle Festival this season.

Blessing of the Truffle Dogs

Sunday 17th June

Experience the essence of the Truffle Festival with this one-off very special event. Just a short drive from Canberra, Tarago will play host to the Blessing of the Truffle Dogs where you will get the chance to meet the Truffle Dogs, join in on the blessing, and see the dogs at work in a live Truffle hunt. Once you’ve experienced the excitement of the hunt, you can enjoy a country-style lunch at Tarago Truffles to savour the taste of your fresh truffles.

Truffle Infused Beer at Bentspoke

Available from Tuesday 5th June to Friday 24th August

If you’re a sucker for trying something new, this one of a kind drop might be just what the doctor ordered. The thought of truffles and beer doesn’t roll off your tongue too smoothly, but it sure does tickle your taste buds the way it should. The ‘Silverback’ is a dark malty strong ale infused with cumquats, mandarins, star anise, cinnamon, vanilla beans, and truffles.

Truffle on the menu

Various participants Sunday 3rd June to Friday 31st August

Throughout the festival, you will be able to wine and dine in some of the capital’s best establishments celebrating the festival. Some of the names to look out for include Mount Majura Vineyard,  Poachers Pantry, 65 Northborne and Contentious Character. If you’re looking for something a little closer to home, Capitol Bar and Grill will be serving truffle-inspired favourites’ Wild and Cultivated Mushroom Risotto, and a unique nod to the household favourite Mac ‘n’ Cheese; “Maccheroni con Formaggio e Tartufo”.
