We’ve always thought that the measure of a great community was the calibre of the markets that they hold. And, not to toot our own horns, but Canberra is host to some of the best. One such best is the Handmade Markets at the National Convention Centre that will be held on Saturday and Sunday, 7-8 June.
Launched back in 2008, the Handmade Markets are the result of the perseverance and hard work one Julie Nichols who spotted a gap in the market for designs and goodies that were made with a little more love than normal.
With a focus on local designers, just 35 stalls and thousands of shoppers, the Handmade Market became an instant hit.
Four years on and this humble community market is now the home to more than 150 designers. Over 15,000 customers attend each event.
With a passion for supporting independent, small and creative businesses and connecting them to their target customers, the team behind Handmade created a market and a shopfront that maintain a grass roots level and also a high standard in quality, workmanship and sensational customer service.
This is a great opportunity for those who have an eye for both design and craftsmanship; for a bargain and a passion for the unique; and most of all, for a weekend immersed in a welcoming local community event full of atmosphere and surprises.
The Handmade Markets will take place across two days, 7-8 June, at the National Convention Centre Canberra.
